Man climbs mobile phone tower for justice

High drama at Varuna Assembly Constituency represented by CM Siddaramaiah

Mysore/Mysuru: High drama was witnessed at Varuna village on Mysuru-T. Narasipur Road in Mysuru taluk today, as a man climbed mobile phone tower demanding justice from his former employer.

Beeregowda, aged 45 and a resident of Siddegowdana Koppal, K.R. Nagar taluk in the district was an employee of Chamundeshwari Sugar Factory in Hassan. He was a mechanic at the factory but was sacked from job due to some reasons.

It is said that Beeregowda climbed the mobile phone tower at about 10.30 am and himself called Varuna Police Station over phone to inform Police personnel at the Station about climbing the tower. He also told the Police to ensure justice from his employer and summon him (employer) to the spot. Till then, Beeregowda said he won’t climb down.

The Police, who reached the spot in no time, made a bid to convince Beeregowda to withdraw from his act, but the latter refused to budge, until and unless his demands are met.

It is also said that Beeregowda travelled all the way from his native to Varuna, to draw the attention of the authorities, with Varuna being the hobli headquarters coming under the jurisdiction of Varuna Assembly Constituency represented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Legislative Assembly.

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, Varuna Police have summoned an ambulance and fire tender to the spot.

He was still on the tower, when we went to the Press.

However, it is not for the first time that Beeregowda has taken to this act, as he had also climbed a defunct boiler at his work place in Hassan and also at Davangere, where he was working earlier.
