Mysuru: A man, depressed over his liquor addiction, committed suicide by consuming poison laced liquor at a lodge in city yesterday. The deceased has been identified as Mahadevaswamy (48), a resident of Ramanuja Road in city.
Mahadevaswamy, yesterday morning, took a room on rent at a lodge near Jaganmohan Palace, where he had allegedly consumed liquor mixed with poison and the incident came to light last night when the room boys peeped inside the room as Mahadevaswamy had not come outside since he took the room on rent. The room boys, who saw Mahadevaswamy lying motionless, informed the lodge management, who in turn informed Devaraja Police.
Devaraja Inspector Thimmaraju and staff, who rushed to the lodge, got the door opened, conducted mahazar and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem.
Devaraja Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
