Mysore/Mysuru: A 32-year-old tribal man, who had gone for a swim along with his friends at Kabini backwaters, died after getting stuck in the slush.
The incident took place at Balle Tribal Hamlet in H.D. Kote and the deceased has been identified as Maasthi, a resident of Hosahalli Tribal Hamlet.
On Apr. 18 evening, Maasthi, along with two others from Hosahalli Tribal Hamlet went for a swim at Kabini backwaters. But when Forest Department staff arrived at the spot, the trio, who saw them, began to swim in different directions during which Maasthi got stuck in the slush and unable to come out, he is said to have died on the spot, according to the complaint.
Meanwhile, Maasthi’s relatives holding Forest staff responsible for Maasthi’s death have alleged that the Forest staff had threatened the trio which led to the tragedy.
Antharasanthe Police, who have registered a case of unnatural death, said that the exact cause for the death of Maasthi would be known only after receiving the post-mortem report.
