Nanjangud: A man, after murdering his wife has committed suicide by hanging self at his house in Madahalli village in the taluk.

The deceased are Shanthamurthy (40) and his wife Puttammanni (38). 

The couple, married for 15 years, have a son and a daughter.

Yesterday, when the family members were away, Shanthamurthy allegedly hacked his wife to death with a machete and later hanged himself at the house. The reason for Shanthamurthy killing his wife and later ending his own life is yet to be ascertained.

According to the complaint lodged by Puttammanni’s brother Manju with Biligere Police last night, Manju has held Shanthamurthy’s family members Revamma, Amrutha and Shivayogi and relatives Chinnaswamy and Ravi responsible for the  couple’s death.

Circle Inspector Rajashekar, who has registered a case, is investigating.
