Man hacks wife to death

Mysore/Mysuru: A man, suspecting his wife’s character, has allegedly hacked her to death in Bannimantap ‘C’ Layout on  Aug. 27 morning.

While the deceased has been identified as Radha (29), the accused husband is 35-year-old Rajesh, a native of Maddur village in Yalandur taluk of Chamarajanagar district. They were residing in the car shed of the house belonging to H.B. Mamata in Bannimantap ‘C’ Layout. Radha was working as a household help for Mamata.

Suspecting his wife’s character, Rajesh used to frequently pick up fights with his wife. It is learnt that, last year, Rajesh had brutally assaulted Radha and Mamata had got Radha treated for the injuries.

Rajesh, who had gone to his native place after a fight with his wife, returned on Aug. 25. On Aug. 27 at about 6.30 am, Radha’s son came running to Mamata’s house and informed her that his father was beating his mother mercilessly. When Mamata ran to the car shed, Rajesh came out of the shed with a machete in his hand and when Mamata, along with her neighbours, entered the car shed, they saw Radha lying in a pool of blood and immediately rushed her to a hospital, but Radha had died by then.

NR Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
