Yalandur: A 45-year-old man was killed on the spot when a tempo ran over him near Yalandur Bus Stand yesterday morning. The man had come to purchase flowers to pay tributes to his deceased wife, when the tragedy struck.
The deceased has been identified as Mariswamy, a resident of Yaragamballi village. He had lost his wife to COVID-19 four months ago and had come to Yalandur to buy flowers to put it to the photo of his late wife.
Mariswamy was walking on the roadside near the Bus Stand on the National Highway, when the speeding tempo, which came from Santhemarahalli side ran over him killing him on the spot.
Soon after the accident, the tempo driver fled from the spot leaving behind the vehicle.
Sub-Inspector Karibasappa and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and have registered a case.
