Mysuru: An incident of a man killing his sister over a land dispute has been reported from D. Salundi village in the taluk on Friday.
While the deceased has been identified as Shivamma (60), her brother has been identified as 55-year-old Basappa.
It is alleged that Basappa has sold about three acre land without the permission of his elder sister Shivamma, which had led to a quarrel between the brother and sister.
On Friday, Shivamma, who came to D. Salundi from her husband’s place in Rayanahundi, questioned Basappa pertaining to the land he had sold, which led to wordy duel between them.
When things went out of control, Basappa picked up a stick and allegedly assaulted Shivamma who sustained severe head injuries and fell unconscious.
Shivamma was rushed to a private hospital and as she was in a serious condition, she was being shifted to NIMHANS in Bengaluru, where she breathed her last mid way.
Jayapura Police, who have registered a case in this regard, have launched a hunt to nab Basappa, who is absconding.
