Man loses Rs. 10.10 lakh advance paid to buy house in city

Mysore/Mysuru: A 43-year-old resident of Gayathripuram in the city, M.S. Ramachandra, finds himself a victim of deception after paying an advance of Rs. 10.10 lakh for the purchase of a house.

The deception unfolded when Ramachandra, acquainted with a real estate broker named Prabhu, was informed by Prabhu that a house (No. 267) owned by Mahadevaiah and his son Rahul in KSRTC Layout 2nd Stage, Nadanahalli, was available for sale at Rs. 61 lakh. On May 22, 2023, Mahadevaiah and Rahul accepted Rs. 10.10 lakh as advance payment and finalised the sale agreement. However, matters took a dubious turn when Prabhu, Mahadevaiah, and Rahul executed another sale agreement in the name of one Chinnappaiah on June 21, 2023 — a development that Ramachandra soon discovered. He confronted the three parties, urging them to complete the transaction by accepting the remaining payment and facilitating the property’s registration in his name.

Regrettably, the trio remained unresponsive to Ramachandra’s requests and failed to refund the advance amount, effectively perpetrating fraud against him, as detailed in his complaint.

The Nazarbad Police have registered a case.
