Mysuru/Mysore: A woman, has been murdered by her husband in front of her father in the wee hours of today at her home in Hosakamanakoppal, Yelwal hobli here.

The deceased is Mamatha, a native of Periyapatna who was married to Nagesh of Hosakamanakoppal about seven years ago. The couple has a six-year-old son. Mamatha was Nagesh’s second wife as his first wife had committed suicide.

It is learnt that Nagesh was addicted to liquor and gambling and used to fight with Mamatha over petty reasons. Yesterday night too, there was a fight between the couple and Mamatha’s father pacified both of them and all of them went to sleep later.

But in the wee hours of today, Nagesh allegedly stabbed Mamatha and later assaulted her with a machete in front of her father, killing her on the spot.

Yelwal Police, who rushed to the spot have arrested Nagesh and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem. 

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) P.V. Sneha, Mysuru South Rural Police Inspector Jeevan and other Police officials visited the spot.  A case has been registered at Mysuru South Rural Police Station.
