Man sentenced to life for killing wife

July 13, 2017

Mysuru: A City Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment besides imposing a penalty of Rs. 5,000, for killing his wife.

Vishwamurthy, 42, of Hirikati village in Gundlupet taluk is the one who has been sentenced.

Vishwamurthy, who had married one Saraswathi of Nanjangud about 12 years ago, stayed at his wife’s house after a few years of marriage.

An alcoholic, Vishwamurthy used to pick up quarrels with his wife Saraswathi, who worked at a factory, suspecting her fidelity.

Vishwamurthy, in a fit of rage, strangulated his wife to death on the night of Sept. 28, 2014, following which the Nanjangud Rural Police registered a case and subsequently filed a charge-sheet against him in the Court.

The city’s Second Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Vijaykumar M. Ananda Shetty, who heard the case, convicted Vishwamurthy and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Public Prosecutor Anand Kumar argued on behalf of the State.
