Mysuru: A city Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment besides imposing Rs. 5,000 penalty on him for killing a woman who was said to be having an affair with him. Revanna, 45, is the one who has been sentenced. Devamma (35), a construction worker, is the deceased.
After deserting her husband, Devamma lived along with her daughter at a shed at Megalakoppalu near Koorgalli in Vijayanagar Police Station limits. The accused Revanna used to visit her house often. But Revanna suspecting Devamma’s fidelity, entered into a heated argument and in a fit of rage, set her ablaze after pouring kerosene on her on Aug.12, 2013. Devamma, who sustained serious burn injuries, was admitted to a city hospital, where she breathed her last on Aug.25, 2013.
Vijayanagar Police who arrested Revanna, filed charge-sheet against him. The 4th Additional District and Sessions Court Judge N. Krishnaiah, who heard the case, held Revanna guilty of the charges and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Public Prosecutor H.M. Raghu Kumar argued on behalf of the Government.
