Man sentenced to seven years jail for killing wife six years ago

Mysuru: The Seventh Additional District and Sessions Court Judge has sentenced a man to seven years imprisonment and has imposed a fine of Rs. 13,000 for killing his wife six years ago.

The deceased woman has been identified as Ameena Khatoon, while her husband who has been sentenced, has been identified as Tajmal Ahmed Khan.

Ahmed Khan had banged the head of his wife Ameena against the wall resulting in her death in Dec. 21, 2011.

Ameena got married to Ahmed Khan in 2005 and had two sons. But her life had become miserable due to Khan’s frequent demand for money from her. Unable to bear the harassment from her husband, Ameena had attempted suicide in 2008 by consuming overdose of sleeping tablets.

Meanwhile, Khan, who promised to patch up and live peacefully with Ameena, moved into a new house at Muneshwara Nagar here after Ameena’s father got the house on lease for them. But, here too, Khan began to pester Ameena to get money from her father frequently and on Dec. 21, 2011, a  fight broke out between the couple and Khan banged the head of Ameena to the wall resulting in her death.

Udayagiri Police had registered a case and had submitted a charge-sheet to the  Court. The Seventh Additional District and Sessions Court Judge M. Anand Shetty, who heard the arguments, found Khan guilty of the crime and sentenced him.

Public Prosecutor H.D. Anand Kumar argued on behalf of the Government.
