Man sentenced to jail for raping minor

Mysuru:  A city Court, on Mar.16, has sentenced a man to jail and has imposed a fine for raping a minor girl.

The accused who has been sentenced is M. Raju, a resident of Chungadipura, Santhemaralli hobli, Chamarajanagar district.

Following the incident, the then Lakshmipuram Police Inspector K.M. Mahadevashetty, who had registered a case on May 7, 2018, arrested Raju and had submitted a charge-sheet to the Court. Judge B.S. Jayashree, who heard the arguments on Mar.16, 2019, found the accused guilty of the crime and sentenced him to five years jail besides imposing a fine of Rs.2 lakh.

Special Prosecutor of the 6th ADJ Court Shivarudraswamy argued for the Government, according to a press release from the PRO, City Police Commissioner’s Office, Mysuru.
