Man sentenced to life for killing daughter-in-law

Mysuru: A City Court has sentenced a man to life for killing his daughter-in-law by smashing her head with a boulder, to life imprisonment besides imposing a penalty of Rs. 5,000.

Mahadevu, 70, a resident of Nanjangud town, is the one who has been sentenced.

Mahadevu, who lived along with his son Ravikumar and daughter-in-law Manjula, smashed the head of Manjula when she sleeping in the wee hours of Sept. 13, 2014 over a petty issue. Manjula, who sustained serious head injuries, was admitted to JSS Hospital in Mysuru, where she breathed her last on Sept. 15, 2014.

The Nanjangud Town Police, who had registered a case in this regard, submitted charge-sheet against Mahadevu in the Court.

The City’s 5th Additional District and Sessions Court Judge C.M. Joshi, who heard the case, convicted Mahadevu and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
