Man sentenced to life for killing wife

Mysuru: The Fifth Additional District and Sessions Court here has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife.

Rajesh alias Raju of Lingapura Colony in Periyapatna taluk is the one who has been sentenced.

Rajesh, an alcoholic, used to pester his wife Kumari who worked as a labourer for money. But as Kumari refused to give money to him, Rajesh picked up a quarrel at his house on the night of  July 30, 2013 and hacked his wife Kumari to death with a machete.

The Periyapatna Police, who registered a case and conducted investigation, filed charge-sheet  against Rajesh at the Court.

The Fifth Additional District and Sessions Judge G.G. Kuruhatti who heard the case, convicted  Rajesh and sentenced him to life imprisonment, besides imposing a penalty of Rs. 25,000 on him. Public Prosecutor Nagappa C. Nakman argued on behalf of the State.
