Mysore/Mysuru: The city’s Second JMFC Court has sentenced a man to two years jail and has imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 for allegedly lodging false cases against a retired College Principal.
The person, who had lodged false cases and sentenced to jail, is Shankaregowda, son of Ramegowda of Anandur village in the taluk.
Shakaregowda had filed four criminal cases including one murder case against V.V. Puram PU College retired Principal Prof. M. Siddaramegowda of the same village at Yelwal Police Station and the Police had submitted B-Reports for three cases to the Court.
Judge C.M. Munirathnamma, who took up the hearing of the last case, heard arguments from both sides, found Prof. Siddaramegowda innocent and released him.
Shankaregowda had lodged the cases when Prof. Siddaramegowda was serving as the Kannada Professor and Head of the Kannada Department at V.V. Puram Science College in Bengaluru following which the Professor was remanded to judicial custody for sometime and was also suspended from duty.
In this backdrop, Prof. Siddaramegowda had filed a defamation suit against five persons including Shankaregowda at the 2nd JMFC Court.
The Court, which sentenced Shankaregowda to jail has acquitted four others.
