Forest Department seize wild animals

Mysore/Mysuru: A man, who had illegally kept wild animals in his house has been arrested by the CID Forest Cell officials recently, who have seized 18 snakes belonging to 9 species and four civet cats from the house. It is also learnt that the Forest staff have found venom milking unit at the house. The arrested is Sandeep alias Deepu, a resident of Rajivnagar in city.

A few people, who had seen snakes in the house, doubted that Sandeep may be milking venom and had lodged a complaint. Taking the issue seriously, the CID Forest Cell officials, who kept a watch on Sandeep’s movements, confirmed that Sandeep had indeed kept the reptiles illegally in his house and conducted the raid during which they also found civet cats there.

Accused Sandeep was produced before a Magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody.
