Mandya double murder case: Murder informer turns killer, arrested

Mandya: Mandya Rural Police have cracked the double murder case that took place on the night of Sept. 3 at a brick kiln at Yeliyur village in Mandya taluk by arresting the killer.

The killer was none other than the person who had informed about the double murder to the Police and the locals. The double murder had taken place at Marithu Bricks, a brick kiln near Yeliyur and Kalenahalli in the taluk.

The arrested is 50-year-old Ramesh, a native of Kodihalli village in Chikkamagalur, who was also working at the brick kiln along with the victims.

Mandya Rural Police Sub-Inspector Siddaraju, who had registered a case, took Ramesh into custody for enquiry and during interrogation, Ramesh is said to have confessed of murdering Basavaraju (44), a resident of Tagadawadi in Srirangapatna taluk and Ramamurthy (46), a resident of Maralakunte village in Nelamangala taluk with an iron crowbar, when the victims were sleeping after consuming liquor.

He is also said to have told the Police that the victims were harassing him every time they consumed liquor and fed up with their harassment, he killed them. 

Ramesh was produced before a Court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
