Mysuru: For the first time, Yoga Dasara will include the physically challenged too to participate from the comfort of their homes.
Disclosing this at a press meet here recently, Yoga Dasara Sub-Committee Deputy Special Officer and Deputy Director of Land Records K. Ramya said that Yoga Dasara would be held from Oct.10 to 16 at 10 locations in city in co-operation with various Yoga Centres. She further said that yoga would be taught to over 10,000 people in city under the theme ‘Mane Manege Yoga’.
Elaborating on the new theme, Ramya said that yoga practice will be held from Oct. 12 to 16 daily from 6 am to 7 am at Javaregowda Park (Saraswathipuram), Puttaraju Gavai Stadium (JP Nagar), Sougandika Park and Lava-Kusha Park (Kuvempunagar), Cheluvamba Park (Yadavagiri), Gokulam 3rd stage park, Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple Park, Park near Police Station and Marimallappa School (Vijayanagar). She added that volunteers would mobilise about 200 people to assemble in each park.
Yoga trek: Ramya said that about 1,000 yoga enthusiasts would participate in the yoga trek to climb Chamundi Hill from 6 am to 8 am on Oct.13 who will later perform Durga Namaskara atop the hill.
As part of Dasara Yogothsava, about 2,000 yoga enthusiasts would perform Mass Suryanama-skara in Palace premises on Oct.14 at 7 am. A yoga contest will be held the same day from 9 am to 5 pm at P. Kalinga Rao Ranga Mantapa in Dasara Exhibition Grounds followed by cultural programmes.
About 800 yoga experts from across the State would participate in the contest to be held in 16 rounds. Three prizes of Rs. 2,000, Rs. 1,500 and Rs. 1,000 would be presented to the first three winners, said Ramya.
