Mangaluru Musician feted in city

Mysore/Mysuru: Senior Musician from Mangaluru and Dakshina Kannada District and Rajyotsava awardee Vidushi Nayana Rai was felicitated at the 29th ‘Nrutyotsava’ (Dance festival) programme organised by Bharatiya Nrutyakala Parishat in memory of Natyacharya M. Vishnudas  at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road here on Sunday.

Speaking after being felicitated, Vidushi Nayana Rai, who is also a senior artist at Mangaluru’s Vishwa Kalaniketana Dance School, said that she had served as a Physical Education teacher in the Education Department for 32 years. Recalling the support and co-operation extended by her sub-ordinates and other staff during her service in the Education Department, she said that Vishnudas was among the top artistes who promoted classical dance in Mysuru. 

Attributing her growth in the field of dance to Vishnudas, she said that she was delighted to have grown to such an extent that the society recognises her talent and feats. 

Nrutyagiri Performing Arts Centre Director Vidushi Krupa Phadke, Vidushis A. Chandramathi, Kumudini Acchhi and C.N. Anitha and others were present.

The event was followed by a dance performance by artistes of city’s Manu Vidya Cultural Foundation.
