Mysuru: ‘Mango Mela,’ the sale of king of fruits, organised by the Horticulture Department will be held at Curzon Park from June 1 to 5, said Horticulture Senior Assistant Director G.D. Dinesh Kumar.
More than 40 mango growers from different parts of Mysuru District had participated in a meeting regarding the Mango Mela. A decision was taken at this meeting to hold the Mela from June 1 to 5. On May 28, a clear picture will emerge on how many growers will participate in the Mela and how many stalls are required, he said, speaking to Star of Mysore yesterday.
Nipah warning: The mango growers who will participate in the Mela have already been cautioned about Nipah virus. As there are already Nipah deaths reported from Kerala and other parts, the growers have been asked not to bring any fruit bitten or dropped by birds. They have also been told not to use any chemicals to ripen the fruits, said Dinesh Kumar.
