Marking Gandhiji’s Satyagraha, Trust ties Khadi cloth to Train bogies

June 7, 2018

Mysuru:  Marking the commemoration of the 125th year of Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha in South Africa, Samarpana Trust, Kadatanalu, Srirangapatna taluk, in association with South Western Railways and a host of other organisations, tied khadi cloth to the doors of first class bogies of Tippu-Siddaganga Express in the city Railway Station this morning.

Mahatma Gandhi stickers were also pasted on the bogies. In June 7, 1893, M.K. Gandhi, then a young Indian lawyer, was discriminated against and was thrown out of a train at Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, when he was on his way to meet his clients.

This historic incident in a train compartment at Pietermaritzburg, became a catalyst for Gandhiji’s Satyagraha movement.

Today, Samarpana Trust had organised this programme at the City Railway Station to spread Gandhiji’s message of peace, that is specially relevant for the young.

Senior writer Prof. Karimuddin of Ganjam, Pandavapura’s Venkategowda Seva Samiti President Dr.K.Y. Srinivas, Kadakola Kannada Sangha President M. Ramesh and others were present.
