Mysuru:  The University of Mysore has decided to withdraw degrees of 21 students, who were involved in marks tampering. This decision was taken at the Academic Council meeting held here yesterday.

A decision was also taken to take action against the employees who are involved in the irregularities. An inquiry committee led by retired District Judge R. Venkatesh was appointed by the University to look into the malpractice with some employees and middlemen involved.

The students had tampered the marks card between the years 2004-2008. After the probe, the charges were proved against the students. Hence, to uphold the dignity of the University, the decision was taken to withdraw the degrees of 23 students. Meanwhile, two students had died and excluding them, it was decided to withdraw degrees of 21 students.
