May 12 declared as paid holiday

Mysuru:  The Election Commission of India has announced May 12 as election day for the Assembly elections in Karnataka and in view of this, the State Government has declared May 12 as paid holiday, to enable voters to exercise their franchise on that day.

This will be applicable to all those who are working in Educational Institutions, Public and Private Sector Banks, Government Offices and Establishments, Co-operative institutions and all other sectors.

The Government has invoked Section 135 (B) of the Representation of People’s Act, 1954 to declare May 12 as paid holiday.
