Two vocal concerts at Ganabharathi

Mysuru: Ganabharathi has organised two vocal concerts on May 4 from 6 pm at Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar — the first one (6 pm to 7.30 pm) would be a Hindustani vocal concert by Dr. Bhaskar accompanied by Pt. Veerabhadraiah Hiremath on harmonium and  Pt. Ramesh Dhannur on tabla. The second (7.30 pm to 9 pm) would be a Karnatak vocal concert by Vid. Sharath Rao accompanied by Vid. Mysore M. Sumanth on violin and Vid. M. L. Vadiraj on mridanga.

Profiles: Dr. Bhaskar, a famous neurosurgeon in city, had his initial training under S. Bhimarao and later came under the tutelage of Pt.  Ramarao Naik, a stalwart of Agra Gharana. Later he continued under Lalitha Ramanujam, a senior disciple of Pt. Ramarao Naik. Presently, he is trained by Pt. Indhudhar Nirodi.

Dr. Bhaskar has performed at various cultural gatherings and festivals in India and has involved himself actively in promoting Hindustani music in Mysuru.

Vid. Sharath Rao is a disciple of Vid. Vijayavani,  Vidu. Shantha S. Rao and later he continued his training under Vid. Rajakumar Bharathi.  He had the fortune of getting advanced insights into music under the great Vid. Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna for two years.  

Currently, he is practicing under the able guidance of Dr. Mysore M. Manjunath. Having given his debut performance at the age of 7, he has been performing all through the years.  With inclination towards philosophy, he has made an attempt to understand Nyayasudha, Bhagavatha, Bhagavadgeethe, Mahabharatha Nirnaya etc., and has also influenced people with his spiritual thoughts.  He is also imparting music education to a number of aspirants through his Music School.
