MCC apathy towards Valvemen

Mysore/Mysuru: Even as MCC is busy in containing the spread of the deadly Coronavirus, there are allegations that it has ignored its own Valvemen who are very much part of the force that work in public places.

The MCC has been accused of failing to distribute safety gadgets such as masks, sanitisers and gloves to Valvemen who are serving at Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW).

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Valvemen Naganna and Puneeth said that although they were working for 12-hours a day, the MCC seems little concerned about their health and well-being.

Maintaining that they have the task of supplying water to citizens at a time when citizens preferred to stay indoors during this COVID crisis, they said that they were a neglected lot, with the MCC showing a step-motherly attitude towards them, while it has taken care of all its other staff and Pourakarmikas.

Claiming that a fellow Valveman  recently died of the virus, they said that they were feeling deeply concerned when going out for work in the absence of safety wears.

Contending that 21 Valvemen who are serving on contract basis are not paid wages for the past two months, they urged the MCC to come to their  help by addressing issues concerning them.
