Amidst widespread complaints of MCC officials acting at the behest of vested interests, here is a classic example of the arrogance and irresponsibility of an MCC Official and such acts have greatly hampered the effective functioning of the civic body.
MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, taking serious note of the arrogant attitude of the Official, has served a notice to him, asking him to reply on the charges against him, within 24 hours.
Details: City Mayor M.J. Ravi Kumar and MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha had undertaken an inspection of areas coming under Ward Numbers 30 and 32 on Wednesday morning. The inspection was aimed at hearing public grievances.
The Mayor went on the inspection by foot starting from Sri Rama Kalyana Mantap in Vontikoppal and passed through Jayalakshmipuram, Gokulam and Manjunathapura. As the Mayor traversed through the areas, the public came up with complaints and grievances.
When the Mayor’s team was inspecting the Gokulam Main Road, some residents complained that a petty shop near Coffee Day on the road was a hurdle to smooth vehicular movement on the road, following which Mayor and MCC Commissioner instructed Zone-4 Assistant Commissioner Priyadarshini and Development Officer Nagaraj Naik to take measures for evicting the shop. Accordingly, the MCC Zone-4 Development Office evicted the shop and transported it to the MCC Godown with the help of ‘Abhaya’ team on Wednesday afternoon itself.
But some residents who called Mysooru Mithra, sister concern of SOM, on Thursday complained that the evicted shop has been relocated at the same place.
When Mysooru Mithra contacted Mayor in this regard, he said that he came to know that the Commissioner itself had returned the petty shop to its owner.
When Commissioner was contacted over phone for his reaction, he said: “the shop was evicted in my and the Mayor’s presence during the Ward inspection on Wednesday. But Nagaraj Naik has returned the shop without bringing to my notice. As such I will be issuing a notice to Nagaraj Naik.”
As said, the Commissioner has on Friday issued a notice to Nagaraj Naik asking him to explain in writing why action must not be taken against him for returning the shop, which was evicted based on public complaint in the presence of the Commissioner and the Mayor, without bringing to his (Commissioner) notice.
Nagaraj Naik has been given 24 hours time (from the time of receipt of notice) to reply to the notice in writing.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that MCC Zone-4 Engineer Lokesh has been transferred to his parent Department over the issue.
