MCC distributes retrofitted scooters to 27 beneficiaries

Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) distributed retrofitted four-wheel scooters to 27 specially-abled beneficiaries picked up during 2014-15 and 2015-16 under the three percent fund for specially-abled at a function organised at MCC premises here yesterday.

The vehicles are basically TVS Scooty Pep modified for the specially-abled each ccosting aboutRs.60,000.

Mayor B. Bhaghyavathi, speaking after distributing the vehicles and ID cards, said that this was the first time she was attending a specially-abled function after she took charge as the Mayor and it had given her great satisfaction to present the vehicles to such persons.

In the coming days, the MCC will organise more such programmes to empower the specially-abled, she added.

ID cards for street vendors: On the same occasion, ID Cards were distributed to 73 street vendors.

Briefing Star of Mysore, MCC Additional Commissioner G.M. Ravindra said that 22 places have been identified in city for street vendors to carry on their businesses. He further said that 1,300 street vendors have been identified and 500 of them have already been given the ID Cards.

Deputy Mayor M. Indira, Health Standing Committee Chairman K.T. Chaluvegowda, Corporators M.V. Ramprasad, SBM Manju and others were present.
