Mysuru: With the National Cleanliness Survey due to commence from Jan. 4 to adjudge the cleanest city in India, MCC had organised a meeting of the five Ambassadors of Swachhata Abhiyan at Palace premises this morning.

The meeting was attended by Swachhata Abhiyan Ambassadors Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, Cricketer Javagal Srinath and Yoga exponent H. Kushi. The other Ambassador Swami Athmajnanandaji of Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, who could not make it, was represented by Swami Mokshatmanandaji of the Ashrama while Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the other Ambassador, could not attend the meeting.

Also present were MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, Mayor M.J. Ravikumar and other officers along with former MLC D. Madegowda.

Jagadeesha said that the ‘Cleanest City’ honour was lost by city last time owing to poor participation by residents. He appealed the Ambassadors to motivate the people in the campaign and strive to get back the Numero Uno position for the city.

Pramoda Devi Wadiyar suggested MCC officials to resume cleaning of the external periphery of the Palace with water to contain dust as being done earlier. She felt that all drainages in city should be cleared for free flow of water and added that the feed back from the public should be immediately taken into cognisance by MCC.

Srinath suggested that kids in schools should be made aware of cleanliness so that they would incorporate the ideas in their homes. He felt that waste segregation at source should be given top priority with offenders brought to book through legal action.
