MCC honours Pourakarmikas; 66 awarded for excellence

MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif, MCC Additional Commissioner S. Kusuma Kumari, Deputy Commissioners Dasegowda and Manjunath seen with Pourakarmikas during the Pourakarmikas Day celebrations at Kalamandira premises this morning.

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif, inaugurated  Pourakarmikas Day, organised at Kalamandira premises in city, this morning.

Speaking after inaugurating the event, MCC Commissioner Asif commended the work of Pourakarmikas in keeping the city, State and the nation clean and tidy.

Asif appealed Pourakarmikas to spend time with their family members and provide good education to their children and help them occupy higher positions in the society.

“The children of Pourakarmikas should not remain as civic workers. They should evolve as officers and respectable citizens of the society,” added Asif.

He advised Pourakarmikas to become role models for their children by practicing good habits.

In all, 66 Pourakarmikas were presented with ‘Best Pourakarmika Award’ and felicitated them. Children who had excelled in SSLC and Second PU examinations were presented  with Prathibha Puraskars.

Prior to the programme, about 200 Pourakarmikas took out a padayatra from old DC Office premises to Kalamandira by holding the Shield and Memento presented to MCC by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in New Delhi recently, for securing third cleanest city ranking in the country under Super Swachh League Cities for the year 2024-25.

Additional Commissioner S. Kusuma Kumari, Health Officer Dr. Venkatesh, Deputy Commissioners Dasegowda and Manjunath and others were present.
