MCC keeps cash counters open today and tomorrow

Five percent rebate on Property Tax ends on Apr. 30

Mysore/Mysuru: Buoyed by the response of people to pay Property Tax during holidays at the special cash counters, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has again opened its tax cash counters at all its nine Zonal Offices today and tomorrow.

Today (Apr. 29) is Saturday and tomorrow, Apr. 30 is a Sunday. The counters will be open to facilitate tax payment and moreover, the April month is coming to an end tomorrow.

More people will pay the tax in April as MCC annually declares a five percent rebate on taxes paid in April. This rebate too will close tomorrow and naturally, there will be a rush. The counters will be open so that people can pay taxes in a hassle-free way.

Along with the staff of the MCC and banks at the counter, arrangements have also been made to depute staff to guide the taxpayers on the processes.

Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, MCC Commissioner G. Lakshmikantha Reddy said that the civic body has collected a record amount as Property Tax this time and the people are making use of both online and offline facilities to pay taxes. “The five percent rebate on Property Tax ends tomorrow and the response has been good. We will know the final amount collected in April after the monthly audit,” he added.

This morning, all the Zonal Offices — near Agrahara Akkana Balaga School, near Jayanagar Railway Gate, near Sharadadevinagar Circle, near Yadavagiri Akashvani Circle, near Basavanagudi Circle Hebbal, near Seshadri Iyer Road Vidyavardhaka College, FTS Circle, Udayagiri and Gayathripuram — witnessed long queues of tax-payers to make use of the facility. Chairs have been placed by MCC staff at Zonal Offices for the elderly to be seated.
