Mysore/Mysuru: Ahead of the presentation of the 2022-23 budget, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has convened a pre-Budget meeting at the MCC office at 11 am tomorrow (Apr.18).
The meeting will be chaired by In-charge Mayor Sunanda Palanetra and will be attended by Corporators of all parties.
As the official tenure of Sunanda Palanetra ended on Feb.24, there was confusion whether Sunanda Palanetra who continues to be the Mayor as In-charge, has the power to present the budget and subsequently the MCC Commissioner G. Lakshmikantha Reddy wrote to the Government seeking permission for budget presentation.
Now, the Municipal Administration Department has granted permission for the same, following which the MCC has convened a pre-budget meeting tomorrow.
The meeting is expected to fix the date for Budget presentation and to decide on who -— Finance Standing Committee Chairperson M.S. Shobha or the MCC Commissioner — will present the Budget.
Meanwhile, taking exception to Budget presentation, Leader of the Opposition in the MCC Ashwini Ananthu has written a letter to the MCC Commissioner asking him not to allow Budget presentation until the Mayor and Heads of all the Standing Committees are newly elected.
