MCC Property Tax 2020-2021: Extend rebate period after lockdown ends

Sir,

This has reference to various letters and suggestions with regard to MCC property tax payment for 2020-2021. I fail to understand why there is no response in the matter from the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC).

First suggestion: MCC staff to collect cheque from residents from their doorstep.

Second: MCC to provide their account number and residents can online transfer previous year tax amount for the time being and balance amount if any at a later date before end of the financial year.

Third: Enabling online remittance of tax like BBMP.

I am forced to remind MCC that there will be heavy rush in banks immediately after withdrawal of lockdown, as another 15 days will be left to avail the rebate of 5%. Considering the present situation, we cannot ignore physical distancing even after withdrawal of lockdown in mid-May.

Hence, I suggest MCC to permit rebate for 30 days after withdrawal of lockdown or enable online remittance facility at the earliest.
