MCC raids shop, seizes 275-kg banned single use plastic

Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials raided a shop in Santhepet yesterday and seized 275 kg plastic and imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 on the shopkeeper.

MCC officials, who took note of a customer carrying single use plastic, collected the address of the shop in the guise of a customer. Acting on the clues, the officials raided Dhanwantri Tradings and following inspection of the premises, they found plastic cups, carry bags, spoon among several other single use plastic articles, totalling 275 kg. They levied a fine of Rs. 10,000 on the shopkeeper and warned him of taking a stringent action if he continues to sell banned plastic articles. The raid was led by Environment Engineer Mythri and the team included Health Inspector Manjukumar, Krishna and Dhananjay Gowda, along with Abhaya personnel.
