MCC to relocate pigs to city outskirts in a phased manner

Sir,

This refers to the pig menace at Naidunagar (SOM WhatsApp dated 29.11.2017). The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials visited the spot on 11.12.2017 and shifted the pigs from that location.

To control pig menace in city, the City Corporation has taken suitable measures. There are about 40 to 50 families in city who are dependent mainly on pig-rearing. Efforts are being made to relocate the pigs from the city limits.

For this purpose, the district administration has identified two places in the outskirts of city. The process of handing over the land from the district administration to MCC is under progress. Once the process is over, all pigs in the city will be relocated to the identified places in a phased manner. Even the pig owners have agreed to shift their animals to the identified places.

For the time being to control pig menace in city, MCC officials are warning the pig owners not to let their animals in public places and to rear them in captivity.
