MCC seeks guidelines from Govt. to treat Corona-infected kids

Mysore/Mysuru: With 8-10 children contracting Coronavirus daily in the District, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has sought guidelines from the State Government on the line of treatment for children.

MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag told SOM that everyday a few children were testing positive in RT-PCR tests. The Corporation has formed a team of 10 Paediatricians who are treating children in hospitals and also talking to home quarantined kids daily.

With no guidelines available for the treatment of kids, the MCC has requested the Government to ponder over this important subject as medical experts have warned of third wave of Corona which will mainly target kids.

The team was also interacting with over 150 renowned Paediatricians of United States of America and United Kingdom since they had opined that the kids have inbuilt immunity power and any fever will subside without any health complications. The condition of kids in those two countries when the pandemic was at its peak was also being studied. A clear guidelines from the Government will help to create separate ICU and oxygen beds for Corona-infected kids. However, the MCC was ready to deal with the situation, Shilpa Nag opined.

She said a separate group called Doctors Advisory Group for Paediatric Covid Care Management has been created and has held  two meetings.
