MCC Ward 32 by-poll: Counting to commence at 8 am tomorrow

Mysuru: The counting of votes for the MCC Ward 32 by-election held on Sunday will be taken up tomorrow (July 5) at 8 am at Maharaja Sanskrit Pathashala on Sayyaji Rao Road where the EVMs have been secured in the strong room.

The results are expected to be announced by 10 am. In all, there are five candidates in the fray — K. Madesh – BJP, SBM Manju – JD(S), B.K. Prakash – Congress, Mangalamma – Bharatiya Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Janata Party and Mahabalaraj – Independent.

However, the contest has turned out into a 3-cornered fight between the three main political parties — BJP, Congress and JD(S).

The low turnout in the Sunday polls has caused anxiety among the candidates, who were expecting a bigger turnout.

JD(S) candidate SBM Manju claimed that the voters have blessed him to continue the good work done by the previous Corporator.

Congress candidate Prakash said that he had a large number of friends in the ward, who assured him of support in the polls.

BJP’s Madesh too expressed confidence of a victory.

Training for counting  personnel held

The counting personnel underwent a training session at the Old Council Hall of MCC this morning. Authorities have made necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of counting tomorrow at the Sanskrit Pathashala on Sayyaji Rao Road.
