MDJA Annual Awards announced

SOM reporter RKB among 6 journos to receive awards during Press Day celebrations; 6 others to be feted

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA) has announced the Annual Awards for the year 2020-21. The awards will be given under four categories — Kannada article, English article, electronic media and photography — during the Press Day to be celebrated by MDJA later this month (August).

The awardees are as follows: 

Best Report in Kannada: Story titled ‘Aspatre Kottadiyalli Haadi Vyaktiya Aranya Rodhana’ written by Satish Depura in Udayavani.

Rural Report in Kannada: ‘Girijanara makkalu coffee thotada karmikaru’ by H.S. Sachit (Hunsur) in Prajavani.

Best Report in English: ‘Hoof Care: The saga behind bare hands’ by Rajkumar Bhavasar (RKB) in Star of Mysore (SOM).

Best Photograph: ‘Tiger hunting a wild boar’ by S. Udayashankar of The New Indian Express.

Best Report in Electronic Media: Special report on ‘Akshaya Aahara Jolige’ in Sourabha programme of Doordarshan by reporter G. Jayanth and cameraman Ramu.

Felicitation: The following achievers in the field will be felicitated on the occasion: 

Lifetime Achievement: R. Krishna Kumar, Deputy Editor of The Hindu; Senior Sub-editor: H.K. Nagesh of Vijaya Karnataka; Senior Photographer: S.R. Madhusudhan of The Times of India; Rural Journalist: K.T. Ramesh (K.R. Nagar) of Mysuru Mithra; Senior Reporter of Electronic Media: K.P. Nagaraj of Public TV; Senior Cameraman: E. Karthik of Public TV.
