Mysuru: Mysuru District Journalists’ Association (MDJA) felicitated meritorious children of its members at an event organised at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city yesterday. The event was inaugurated by Mayor M.J. Ravikumar by watering a sapling.
Later, felicitating the students, MLA M.K. Somashekar lauded MDJA for its decision to set aside 25 percent of its funds for education. Stating that MDJA was setting an example to other associations, Somashekar announced that he would donate Rs. 10 lakh for MDJA from his MLA fund.
In all, 13 students were felicitated for scoring good marks in SSLC and PUC examinations. While SSLC toppers received a cash prize Rs. 10,000 each, PUC toppers were given Rs. 15,000. The students who were felicitated are:
SSLC: Aditya Kashyap (Nanjangud), R. Harshala (H.D. Kote), C.S. Bhoomika (Mysuru), Nayana Priya (Mysuru), Sri Ganesh (Berya – K.R. Nagar), N. Lavanya (T.N. Pura), Gaurav Urs (T.N. Pura), Nikhilesh (Hanagodu- Hunsur) and Suguna (Hunsur).
PUC: Mohd. Waquib (Mysuru), C.S. Shravya (Mysuru), M. Prathiba (Hanagodu, Hunsur) and Prerana Bhat (Nanjangud).
