‘Media and law play vital role in reforming society’

Mysuru: A two-day National Conference on ‘Media, Law and Development: New Debates’ was organised by the Department of Studies and Research in Law, University of Mysore, at Mathematics Department Seminar Hall in Manasagangothri here recently.

Subject experts and students from across the Country took part in the conference.

Inaugurating the programme on Friday, Tumkur University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Y.S. Siddegowda opined that in democracy, media and law play vital role in reforming society.

He said that reluctance for change in society was a misconception which can be erased by the pillars of democracy. He contended that about 60% of the jobs across the world are held by the youth with a sizeable lot among them being Indians.

Dr. Siddegowda and UoM Registrar (Evaluation) J. Somashekar were felicitated on the occasion.

Department of Law Dean and Director Dr. C. Basavaraju, Conference Director Dr. Ramesh and others were present during the inaugural.
