Mysuru: Krishnaraja MLA M.K. Somashekar inaugurated ‘Swarnim Bhavan,’ the new premises constructed by Brahma Kumaris in Kuvempunagar ‘M’ Block, at a programme held at Samrat Kalyan Bhavan here recently.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that in today’s stressful life majority of people are suffering from mental disorders. Psychologists around the world have observed that nearly 90 percent of the diseases are linked to the mental status. It is really heartening to note that Brahma Kumaris (BKs) have opened their service centres to impart ways to live without tension.
Continuing, he said, ‘Meditation reduces the level of mental tension and brings newness to life. Hence, parents have to give priority for their children to learn such skills from young age. ’
Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, who was the chief guest, shared his experience of Mount Abu and said, “The serenity, cleanliness and the attitude of service I found there need to be imbibed by one and all. I have been observing Brahma Kumaris activities since my childhood and I am impressed by their simplicity.”
Former Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa emphasised changes to be incorporated in our living style. He lauded Brahma Kumaris for establishing spiritual service centres at more than 20 places in the city and imparting life skills free of cost to the people.
Pancham Singh Chowhan, the dreaded dacoit of the 70s, who operated for nearly two decades in Chambal Valley and transformed himself impressed by the teachings of Brahma Kumaris while in jail, also spoke about the necessity of non-violence in life.
A procession to create awareness among people with respect to practicing values like Truth, Peace, Love, Harmony etc., was taken out in Kuvempunagar wherein more than 500 BKs participated holding placards.
B.K. Viswanath, an industrialist from Hyderabad, Corporators Snake Shyam and Shivanna, Panchayat Member Vijayalakshmi, civil contractor Govinde Gowda were present on the dais.
Rajyogini B.K. Lakshmiji presided. B.K. Sharadaji exhibited the method of doing Rajyoga meditation. B.K. Ramachandra Rao welcomed. B.K. Ranganath, Principal of Rajyoga Education, compered.
