Mysore/Mysuru: As per the guidelines issued by the National Blood Transfusion Council, one cannot donate blood for 28 days, after getting vaccinated, which may lead to an acute shortage of blood in the next two months.

While vaccination for all adults above 18 years of age has started in some States, the same has been stalled temporarily in Karnataka.

Keeping this in mind, CII-Young Indians Mysuru, Rotary Mysore and Terapanth Yuvak Parishad, supported by popular social media page Mysuru Memes, jointly organised a Mega Blood Donation Drive at Ideal Jawa Rotary School on May 12. The event was supported and attended by MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag, Mayor Rukmini Madegowda, Dy. Mayor Anwar Baig and MCC Health Officer Dr. Nagaraj.

Supported by Rotary Chandrakala Blood Bank, a total of 65 units were collected by members of these organisations and other voluntary donors from across the city as part of their continued support to the needy and nation building activities.

Nikhil P. Koundinya, Chapter Chair – Yi Mysuru, D. Ravi Shankar, Past Chair, Yi Mysuru, M.K. Kiran and members Sowmya Nikhil, Rahul SRS, Gagan Ranka, K.N. Suhas and Ramachandra also participated.
