Memory Walk marks World Alzheimer’s Month

Mysore/Mysuru: On the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Month, ‘Memory Walk’ was organised in city by the Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI), Mysore Chapter, on Tuesday.

Chairman of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), H.V. Rajeev launched the Walk in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, Palace North Gate and said, “Many are suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, not only senior citizens even youngsters are suffering from the disease. In our country, 5% of the population are going through Alzheimer’s and the number of patients is increasing every year. An individual must indulge in physical activity in order to control physical and mental diseases. Also consuming healthy food which contains more of fatty acids will help in controlling mental related disease. ARDSI has done a commendable job by organising the Memory Walk, this will create awareness among people about Alzheimer’s disease.”

Many Doctors and Medical students participated in the rally which passed through Devaraja Urs Road and concluded at the Deputy Commissioner’s  (DC) office.

Mysore Medical College & Research Institute (MMC&RI) Dean and Director Dr. C.P. Nanjaraj, Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions President Dr. B.M. Subraya, Secretary N. Chandrashekar, GSS Yogic Research Foundation Founder Srihari, ARDSI Mysore Chapter President Dr. Hanumanthachar Joshi and others took part in the rally.
