Mysore/Mysuru: National Consumer Day, observed annually on Dec. 24, marks the enactment of the Consumer Protection Act of 1986.
To foster meaningful engagement ahead of National Consumer Day, the Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) is organising its November monthly meeting with key officials from the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Mysuru District.
The meeting will be held on Sunday (Nov. 9) at 4 pm at 6/1 Vivekananda Road, Yadavagiri, Mysuru. Food and Civil Supplies Department Joint Director Dr. Manteswamy and Assistant Director B.C. Mohan will lead the discussion on consumer rights and Departmental initiatives.
In today’s marketplace, consumers are far from being treated like royalty. In the private sector, merchants and contractors often act as if they’re doing us a favour, not serving us. In the public sector, citizens — who are meant to be the masters — are routinely treated worse than subordinates by civil servants.
National Consumer Day is a reminder to reclaim our rights and demand the respect we deserve, both as consumers and as citizens. For details contact Ph: 0821-2515150.
