MGP Monthly Meeting on Property Tax

Mysuru: Property tax paid by Mysureans has a huge impact on how Mysuru develops. However, each year MCC has not been able to reach the target which itself is less than the potential amount that can be raised by an efficient organisation.

In 2015-16, MCC was able to collect only Rs. 70 crore from property tax. The budget for 2016-17 was raised to  Rs. 140 crore which was the right action. However the actual collection was Rs. 95 crore (as per MCC website).

For 2017-18 property tax budgeted was Rs. 125 crore which was less than what was budgeted during the previous year. These statistics clearly point out that MCC has not been efficient in collecting property tax.  At the same time, honest tax-payers are facing many problems.

To discuss these twin problems of how to help MCC to increase collection of property tax and also to help the tax-payers, Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) has organised an interaction with three Revenue Officers  from MCC — Kumar Swamy, Arasu Kumari and Prasad — June 10 (Sunday) at MGP’s office, 6/1 Vivekananda Road, Yadavagiri.

Tax-payers are requested to send their questions and suggestions to MGP through email: mygrapa@gmail.com. For details call MGP on Ph: 2515150, according to a press release.
