Mysuru: Micro Communities should unite to protect the 2A reservation, said Karnataka State Backward Classes Jagruta Vedike President K.S. Shivaram, here yesterday.
He was speaking at that felicitation and 2025 calendar release function organised by the Ganiga community at Rotary Centre on JLB Road.
“The Lingayat Panchamasali community has been protesting with a demand to include them in the 2A reservation list. On them being extended the 2A reservation, nearly 202 micro communities will be denied of their rights. In this regard, there is a need for the micro communities to fight in unity against the proposal and to exert pressure on the State Government,” he added.
Stating that the State Government had foiled the protest of panchamasali community members headed by Jaya Mruthyunjaya Swamiji during the recently concluded Winter Session of the State Legislature, Shivaram said that the leaders of Kumbara, Ganiga, Madiwala, Kuruba, Savitha Samaja among other micro communities should be aware of the tactics used by the influential communities to expose them in public. “Ganiga community, which has not recognised itself politically, should be pleased for the fact that a person from the community has been serving as the Prime Minister of the country providing able administration,” he said.
On the occasion, achievers from the community were felicitated besides releasing the 2025 calendar. Former MLC R. Dharmasena, BJP leader Dr. Shushruth Gowda, Anand, M. Chandrashekar, Ganiga Mahasabha President Dr. K. Vijaykumar, former Mayor Ananthu, RJ Sunil and others were present.
