Microchip implantation and registration of pet dogs on Nov. 12

Mysore/Mysuru: Canine Club of Mysore has organised microchip implantation and Kennel Club of India (KCI) registration for pet dogs on Nov. 12 from 10 am to 1 pm at the Veterinary Hospital in Chamundipuram here.

Club President B.P. Manjunath said that microchipping a pet has many benefits.

With cases of dog lifting on the rise, a microchipped dog can easily be reunited with owners from the abductors; the pet can participate in dog shows organised by KCI across the country.

Dogs can be scanned for a microchip using a hand-held electronic device that will recognise the unique information held inside the chip.

If a pet is stolen or lost, vets and animal shelters can scan the pet for a microchip and contact owner via the database.  A microchip is not a tracking device/GPS and it is for identification purposes only.
