Microfinance recovery agent arrested for alleged sexual harassment

Mysore/Mysuru: Vidyaranyapuram Police have arrested a recovery agent of a microfinance firm on charges of allegedly harassing a minor girl sexually in the guise loan recovery.

The arrested is identified as Prasanna, an employee of a micro-finance firm in J.P. Nagar here.

On Jan. 29, Prasanna, who had gone to a house to collect the monthly instalment, received the instalment amount from the 16-year-old girl and asked her to fetch him a glass of water. When the girl went inside to get water, Prasanna, who went behind her to the kitchen, locked the door and allegedly harassed her sexually.

As the girl began to scream, Prasanna left her and while leaving from the house told her not to disclose it to anyone as he would lose the job. When the girl’s mother came home, she found her daughter crying and on enquiry, the girl revealed the incident, following which a Police complaint was lodged.

Based on the complaint, Vidyaranyapuram Police arrested Prasanna under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and produced him before a Court, which released the accused on bail, Police said.
