Mysore/Mysuru: Come tomorrow, common man will feel a pinch in his pocket, with KMF (Karntaka Milk Federation) increasing the price of both milk and curd by Rs. 2 each, per litre. 

According to revised prices, a litre of blue toned milk packet will now cost Rs. 37 against Rs. 35; green packet (homogenised cow milk) – Rs. 41 and orange (Shubham) – Rs. 43 a litre. 

A litre of curd which is presently priced at Rs. 41 will now be charged to Rs. 43.

Seeking a revision of prices, KMF had submitted a proposal to State Government last week. With the surge in prices, the farmers will get a major share as their accounts will now be credited with Re. 1. Another 40 paise will be given to farmers towards insurance for their livestock, 40 paise will go to milk salesmen and remaining 20 paise will be distributed among the workforce at the Milk Co-operative Unions as an additional incentive.

“The Government, in order to provide better wages to farmers breeding livestock, approved the revised prices. Compared to other States, the prices of dairy products in our State is very cheap,” said Balachandra Jarkiholi, Chairman, KMF, justifying the price hike.
