Minister announces grants for Hootagalli CMC

Bengaluru: In some relief for the newly formed Civic Bodies of Mysuru, Municipal Administration Minister MTB Nagaraj said that money has been released for Hootagalli CMC (City Municipal Council) and Kadakola, Srirampura, Rammanahalli and Bogadi Town Panchayats (TPs) of Mysuru, for infrastructure development works.

The Minister was replying to a question by Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD) and others during the Question Hour of the State Legislature on Friday.

Maintaining that Rs. 75 lakh has been released for Hootagalli CMC and four TPs of Mysuru have got Rs. 30 lakh each, Nagaraj said that Mysuru Deputy Commissioner (DC) and other officials will be directed to take up necessary infrastructure development works, with focus on waste disposal and management.

GTD contended that the newly formed Civic Bodies of Mysuru, which came into being more than 6 months ago, have been rendered inactive for want of funds.

Noting that the staff of these Civic Bodies were not getting salaries and also there was no waste disposal system and hygiene maintenance system in place, the MLA laid threadbare the financial and other problems that the new Civic Bodies were facing.

GTD also demanded immediate release of Rs. 10 crore for the new Civic Bodies. Responding to the MLA’s plea, Minister assured to take up the issue with the DC and provide more funds for taking up infrastructure development works.
